How do I use the on-screen keyboard while AirTurn pedal is attached?

When you have an AirTurn pedal (or other bluetooth pedal) attached it is common to find that the pedal overrides the on-screen keyboard.  This is because the bluetooth pedals work exactly like a physical keyboard, using the left/right/up/down arrows for navigation – it effectively simulates a physical keyboard so the tablet thinks you have a keyboard attached and thus hides the on-screen virtual keyboard. This can be quite annoying because it means you can’t use the Search feature (or any other task that requires keyboard if you’re multitasking).

AirTurn have thoughtfully published an android app called Virtual Keyboard Switch that allows you to get around this.

• Install and run the Virtual Keyboard Switch app
• Clicking the Start button should bring you to a settings dialog titled “Change keyboard”
• Turn “Show virtual keyboard” option ON

Once you’ve completed the steps above you will be able to use your on-screen keyboard in All Charts mode, even with the AirTurn pedal in use.
