Need help with Orpheus? You’re in the right place!

Cache Everything is taking a really long time

The time it takes to cache depends on how many files are in your Dropbox. It’s actually not within our control on the Orpheus side – it’s governed by the Dropbox API.

Typically we’ve noticed this problem effects users trying to cache a large number of charts all in one hit. Try caching in smaller batches (eg add one folder then ‘cache everything’, then once that’s done add your second folder and ‘cache everything’.)

Another thing we’ve seen a few times is that a corrupt PDF file stalls the cache process so it gets stuck. This can be particularly frustrating as it’s hard to find exactly which file is the culprit. Again, breaking your cache process into smaller batches will help you narrow down and identify the corrupt file.

Once i started the cache option from the settings menu but now my installation consumes very much ram storage (300 MB). How can I undo this without loosing the original pdfs, setlists and annotations i have added?

Caching the content effectively copies the content to your device, therefore taking up storage space. (Long term storage, not RAM memory which is short term processing memory). To undo it, use the ‘clear cache’ option from Orpheus’s settings screen. You won’t lose the original PDFs but you will lose everything stored by Orpheus in the cache which includes setlists and annotations. Unfortunately this is a balance you’ll have to find – if you want sheet music loaded instantly well then obviously it has to be stored locally on the device. If you are happy to wait a few moments for data to load from cloud storage then the Dropbox option is available. 300MB is not a lot considering the size of the average tablet storage these days! Many tablets also have a slot for an external SD card which may be an option for you?
