If you use Orpheus regularly as a serious musician please support ongoing maintenance and development of the app by upgrading to Pro. Thanks for your support.

Maeve Lander is a software developer by day, trumpeter and arranger by night. She created Orpheus ~8 years ago, when Android was first born. It has gone through iteration over the years, but has always held true to the original vision; a minimalist sheet music reader that just does one thing, really well.

It’s not obvious how Orpheus handles repeats (for example, jumping back three pages in the score). Is there a simple way to do this?

There is no built in repeat or DS/Coda functionality. Personally, I just turn to the relevant page. Although I admit, I play a single line instrument and jazz, so it’s usually no more than 3 pages to a score. I can see the use of repeat/hotlinking function for longer or more complex scores. I’ll mark it on the list of features to consider for future development.

From what i see i too may become a user… If it really works out we’ll go PRO – Thanks for the APP. Steve

DS/Coda functionality, and the ability to jump to a mark would be really useful in my vocal scores, as going back and forward several pages whilst singing is a bit fraught! This functionality exists with my fellow choir members iPad software similar to orpheus.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion John. Sounds like a great feature – I’ll make a note and consider it for future versions.

Android apps like Orpheus can be installed on many models of Chromebook. Here’s a guide.

Can I scan my own sheet music and load it into the software?

Thanks

Yes, that’s exactly what Orpheus is designed for!

Can I use Orpheus (free or pro) to do auto-scrolling of a file? Just simple, slow scrolling, much like ultimate-guitar has. It’s honestly the only feature I’m looking for and mobilesheets and the like are way over-complicating things.

Sorry Rien, Orpheus doesn’t have an auto-scroll feature.

Yes, if your lyrics are in one of the supported file formats: PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF.

I’ve been looking for this app for a long time. 🙂 It is just what I need to organize my music when I play out. I love the Inverse mode (Dark) because it works well in a gig setting and the screen doesn’t throw off the light from the page onto me. After using it for only a few minutes, I upgraded to Pro to remove the ads because this is perfect for my use. It worked right away with my iRig BlueTurn pedal, without having to turn anything on in Settings.
Future update suggestions 😀
1. When I open the PDFs, I would like them to be full page. When I use my tablet vertical, they are, but when I turn it sideways, it defaults to page height fitting on the screen, I would like the page “width” option to default, even if I had to pay a little more for it, it would be convenient.
2. Dark mode (Inverse) option for all screens, so when I flip back to a menu between songs, the majority of the screen stays dark.
3. Consecutive songs open in Set List. This is probably the most advanced request. So that I can go from song to song within a Set List hands-free. Sometimes songs run into each other, or the music plays continuously between songs in the same key. For now, I could just make all of the songs in a Set List into a single PDF.
Thanks for making this, and making my life easier as a musician!
