Need help with Orpheus? You’re in the right place!

How do I get my sheet music files into Orpheus?

The Short Answer:
Go to Music Folders tab in Orpheus and click the folder icon at the top right. You can add folders of music from a variety of sources including device memory, external SD card and Dropbox (Turn Dropbox to ON in Settings).

Note About Filtering
If you have multiple folders of sheet music you can filter which folders show in All Charts. Press and hold the item, then go to the overflow menu and enable/disable folder.

The Longer Answer
For anyone who’s struggling, try this step by step tutorial:

  1. Create a folder on your tablet and give it a sensible name like “Sheet Music”.
  2. Copy all your PDF files into that folder. It’s easiest to do this by connecting the tablet to your PC with USB cable and just doing a drag n drop. You can use sub-folders to organise your music if you want to.
  3. In Orpheus, go to Music Folders tab, and click the folder icon (top right) to add a new folder. Navigate to your new “Sheet Music” folder and select “choose folder”.
  4. Go to All Charts screen and you should see all your sheet music charts there.

Does this app only work with PDFs, or do other formats function with this as well?

Orpheus is giving a “can not read folder contents” message when I attempt to select my external SD card to select a file stored there. Works like a charm with the internal storage.

You’ll need to “Specify SD Card” from Orpheus’s settings screen.

To find the filepath for your SD card use a file manager app such as EX File Explorer:
1. Navigate to your sheet music folder via EX File Explorer
2. Long press the folder until a check box appears
3. Select the “properties” menu item from the “more” menu
4. The full path will be revealed
5. Copy that file path into the field in Orpheus settings.

That should do the trick!

The correct SD card name can be retrieved with the google file manager. The Samsung file explorer shows a wrong path.
E.g. /storage/247F-1516/Documents is the correct path on my device Samsung A9+.
Not /sdcard nor /SD-Karte nor /local/247F-1516/ as displayed in other tools.
I like the 11″ screen!

Does this only work with the Pro version? I have the free version, which shows the sd card as the current folder. When I click the folder icon, wanting to designate a different music folder, a message says that I can only have 1 folder in the free version. There’s no other option.

Hi Steve, Free version only allows you to have 1 folder. Pro version allows unlimited number of folders. More info here.

Hello Maeve !!! Maybe it is “stupid” questions and my English is not so good . How many sheets can I have in one folder 500? and it still be handy to work with. Of course I will do playlists and work from there. Maybe someone in the audience will like to hear a song that I don’t have in the playlist for he evening and I have to look in the “500 folder”. Is it only to choose 500folder and scroll down to right song , play it and then go back to evening playlist.
Regards / Gunnar

With Pro version there is no limit on number of sheets in one folder. 500 would be fine. Although personally, I find using sub-folders helpful if you have some classifications system that helps to organise things.

Is it possible to import files directly into a specific folder in Orpheus ?

Yes, to achieve this you would simply add the new files to the folder using a file manager app.

Does Orpheus no longer support Google drive to upload files? The “G” icon in music folders has disappeared and I can no longer upload my music via Drive, which is where I keep all of my repertoire.

Hi Olivia, that’s correct I’m afraid Google Drive is no longer supported due to Google changing some of the needed APIs 🙁 More info here. And thank you for the reminder to remove the documentation relating to G Drive.

Can the tablet camera be used to capture and import sheet music into Orpheus?

There isn’t a photo scan feature in the app yet. But I am planning to add that in the next 6-12 months. So for now, you can use a separate photoscan app – simply save the shot to a folder which is then automatically imported into Orpheus.

How to change the order of my songs in my music charts..they are in alphabetical order

Maeve Lander

They will be listed alphabetically in All Charts area, but if you wish to create an ordered Set List (eg for a rehearsal or gig), then use the Set Lists area. There you can drag n drop charts into whatever order you like.
