Version 4.0 implements some bug fixes and improvements, but the big news is the introduction of a new pricing model. Pro features can now be accessed via an annual subscription of $9.99 USD. My hope is that by moving to a subscription, the app will generate enough ongoing revenue to cover more active maintenance and new feature development in 2022.

Some major features I’d like to explore in the year ahead include:

  • Snapshot feature, allowing you to take a photo of a physical document using device camera
  • More cloud integrations like Google Drive, Box etc
  • A backup/migrate feature (so you don’t lost data when moving to a new device)
  • Possibility of ports to iOS and Windows

Alongside those major features, I will also be committing to a more frequent maintenance release cycle, so that bugs and enhancements are regularly rolled out for existing users. This active ongoing maintenance is critical to keep Orpheus reliable, performant, and optimised for musicians.

I want to thank all Orpheus’ users for their support over the years. ❤️ I regularly receive emails with feedback, questions, and suggestions.  It means so much to me that musicians from all over the world are interested in engaging with me, and offering their thoughtful and innovative comments to help keep Orpheus app thriving.

Maeve Lander is a software developer by day, trumpeter and arranger by night. She created Orpheus ~8 years ago, when Android was first born. It has gone through iteration over the years, but has always held true to the original vision; a minimalist sheet music reader that just does one thing, really well.
